The Project

The MADAMES-AX project will consist in the validation of a scaling business model to support sustainable management of the forest ecosystems (SFM – Sustainable Forest Management). Such business model can benefit of the bio-based products market and in turn it can make the forest sector more profitable for forest holders and attractive for investments by the industry and the big retail sectors. At this aim,  the project activities will be first focused on an Italian certified forest area which receives an economic support, in terms of management intervention, by one of the Europe’s top company of retails household product.

The mission

To promote a scaling approach of the sustainable forest management, stimulating an economy strongly linked to the local wood industry, the MADAMES – AX project will rely on established collaborations between the industry, big retail sector and certified forests managers.

Activities

The MADAMES AX project is a 10-month project aiming at analyzing mitigation and adaptation strategies for Mediterranean ecosystem services.

The specific objectives of the proposal may be summarized as follow:

  • to assess and monitor the carbon sequestration and biomass production of the target forest area located in the Comunelli di Ferriere Consortium (Piacenza – Emilia Romagna Region – Italy);

  • to conceive a scaling business model that expresses mutual benefits between industries and forest management actors. The aim of the MADAMES-AX related service consists, indeed, in neutralizing the CO2 emissions due to the retail products transportation, supporting forest management initiatives funded by the organization willing voluntarily to compensate their emissions;

  • to communicate project results and outcomes, thanks to several activities, including the organization of conferences and meeting and the production of video-interviews made with the support of the “Parentucelli Arzelà” high-school.
